25mm Hinchliffe Napolionics

 As the occasional readers of this blog may be aware my interest in wargaming was initially influenced by Brig Peter Young's book The Wargame bought for my birthday by my parents at about the age of 14, 64 now so a while ago! the figures particularly in the Napoleonic bits were fantastic and truthfully I have fancied having something similar ever since.

I have therefore gone down the duel route of buying the odd figure from the manufacturers and eBay for the majority. The ones from eBay generally required a degree of either tarting up or even stripping down and re-painting. Brown vinegar is by far the best and smelliest! Never mind the fancy stuff on line.

So this is , or will be a collection. I don't particularly intend to wargame with these figures and will increase the collection only as and when suitable figures come up on line. If 1815 British figures come up then I would be interested.

Anyhow here they are:

These were bought pretty much as you see them, there are a couple of Minifig figs in here but they look ok.

grenadiers a cheval, half of these figures are the officer type but I just removed the epaulettes. 

Dutch lancers, these needed quite a bit of work.

Two squadrons of Dragoons, half bought from the manufacturer while the others need stripping right down and repainted.

A battery of foot artillery.

Guard Grenadiers.

Guard Chasseurs.

Napoleon and Ney.

Various Marshals.

I left the bases plain to keep the 'old school' look, I haven't decided if I should do more with the bases yet.

Prince August 40mm SYW

 More progress on my 'Old School' Prince August 40mm SYW figures collection. Quite a few added, the existing Austrian battalion was brought up to the 48 figs plus 5 officers on foot and one mounted, as standard in the 'Charge' rules.

One more 'blue' battalion added as above, plus two battalion guns.

Next was one Prussian battalion, the artillery still to be added.

I have one Prussian Fusilier battalion still to paint up, guns to cast and cavalry moulds ready to use.

 Additional ECW Battalia completed for both sides, as usual based up for King and Parliament but will do for most rule sets.

15mm Thirty Years War game

 I'll get my excuses in now, we have got a new Tibetan Terrier (Nelly) after sadly loosing our dog Lexi just before Xmas so I have had neither the time nor frankly the inclination to port on here. The new dog is lots of fun but of course loads of work but well worth it.

Anyhow, I went over to Neil's place for a couple of weeks to game with his TYW 15mm collection and after a couple of sessions using the Twilight of Divine Right rule set by the Pike and Shot Society. Neil knows his stuff and recons the rules combine the accuracy and playability needed, he also has a great collection of figures as you will see.

Both armies lined up, Swedish to the top, Imperialists to the bottom of the picture.

My Cuirassiers piling into the mounted shot and sneaky Hussar types mooching around the flanks.

Kind of ended up a bit of a stalemate on this flank. Rather disappointing as I had hoped for better.

Neil's Swedes had the edge on the other flank. 

Like I said, very nice figures.

The big push of pike in the centre, excellent Swedish Rgts vs large mediocre Imperial Tercios.

It all started to go horribly wrong as the Imperial Tercios collapsed one by one.

In the end my centre collapsed with the Swedish piling forward singing bloody Abba songs!
Certainly met my Waterloo anyway!
