It is a long time since I have last posted on here I admit but I have been gaming and painting - honest!
I went up to Mick's place with Neal and Scotty to re-fight Klissow 1702 see here great fun, a pretty accurate historical result as my and Scotty's Saxon/Polish army got beaten, mainly as my Saxon cavalry had a chance to charge disrupted Neal's Swedish cavalry crossing a stream and rolled crap dice but then I dithered and lost me chance, oh well!
Also Neal and I are fighting a large 15mm Napoleonic Peninsula battle using the fantastic General D'Armee rules, more of that when we finish.
But the main wargaming occupation at the minute has been to re-base my two English and Scottish armies circa 1350 - 1403 ish. Painted up mainly for the battle of Otterburn 1388 though the knights and esquires I have done were mainly at Otterburn they are representative of both sides of the English/Sottish boarder during this period.
Many other pictures of the original figures can be found here but I felt that they weren't that great, needed tarting up and re-basing on Impetus bases. They can now be used with the To the Strongest rules which are our go to rules for Ancient/Medieval.
So, on to the photographs, English First

Welcome
Welcome to my wargaming blog,
I'm Dave and live in Morpeth, Northumberland in the UK.
This may or may not be a regular thing, we'll just have to see how it goes.
I am a painter/collector of figures first and a wargamer second. My thrill in this great hobby of ours is to place that final well researched & painted unit into the cabinet. The actual gaming with the figures is an important but secondary experience, we all like to win, but it isn't the be all and end all of it, being with good friends and having fun is.
Hope you will enjoy reading this blog as much as I will writing in it.
Just to remind the visitor to scroll down the various pages and click on 'older posts' to see more.

Here at last.
I've finally got round to painting up five British 28mm Napoleonic command for the one infantry and one cavalry brigade I did about a year ago. No excuse really but at least that's another group of figures that can be gamed with.

The cavalry save the day.
Now I'm not touching the Confederate statue thing going on in the U.S. with a barge pole so lets get that straight right from the start. I have my views but this isn't the place to air them.
So, that aside I have been indulging in some 15mm ACW painting, in this instance cavalry. Neither side had any to speak of and as I have figures lying around, actually two boxes of Mini Figs and I think Peter Pig (or maybe Essex) given to me by Tom bless his heart, I thought that they would give a game something different. Not the greatest of figures but they will do, now it has to be said that any cavalry with the capability to dismount will take a bit of effort to paint up but I think these will be worth it.
Two regiments of Confederate cavalry:
The dismounted figures and horse holders:
A Union regiment:
Dismounted:
I would like to add to the Union, maybe another regiment at least with artillery support as well but a good start has been made.
If anyone is remotely interested I am making some progress at re-doing the various photos on the blog after those rip off merchants (I wont even mention their name) decided to charge people money for third party postings. It is taking a while but I will get there. So all postings up to and including 15mm SYW now have their pictures back on (for the categories click on what you want just under the large picture of Napoleon).

Delays and frustration!
Been a bit of a sod this month mainly as my third hand PC went tits up, kicked the bucket and generally died an inglorious death. Now I hear you say 'third hand' what the heck do you expect. Fair play, I got this one from my third son who had got it from my second son and though set back to factory settings when I received it I suspect like me it was just getting a bit long in the tooth.
Any ho got my first new one for about ten years, yes I am that tight! So back up and running.
Had a couple of games of General De Armee, Spanish vs French so Neal and I are getting to grips with these fantastic rules. I didn't record them for posterity as we were looking back and forward through the rule book to clarify things and as I was thoroughly enjoying myself I frankly couldn't be arsed. I will do a Saturday game soon and put that on here.
In the meantime I have added a regiment of Confederate cavalry to my fairly big 15mm collection, Union cavalry still to do. Plus here are a few of photos of the 10mm French for Blucher. This will give a core of infantry to build the French army around and gets the repetitive side over, just pretty units to add.
Looking at the photos I thought maybe I should have made more of their faces but then they are 10mm for goodness sake, I'd be on all month doing that!

Photo bucket
Those Photo bucket arseholes have decided to demand a charge for any pictures that have been stored with them and are being used on 3rd party sites such as this.
They can sod off, so I'm now in the mind numing process of re posting the old ones back onto this site from my hard drive, not all as I stopped using Photbucket a couple of years ago but enough to piss me and many thousands of past (hopefully) customers off.
Hope they go bust!
