It did need to be done, these lads are about 15 years old now and were originally based for Warhammer which as a skirmish/small scale action set of rules were fine in their original guise but like allot of rule writers they got greedy and had to write supplement after supplement, and of course we bought them. Truthfully you can't blame folk for making money but the original basic set seemed ok to me, later on you seemed to need to refer to the books to find out every weapon each different type of warrior may have had at hand, ridiculous.
So as I can't be arsed to move individual (or even small groups of figures) around I figured one base, one unit would do for Dave. Impetus size bases cut for me by Mick I made a start:
All will be used for the excellent To the Strongest rules written and supplied by Simon Miller here The Big Red Bat Shop
As you can see these are the cavalry, I should get going with the infantry soon, then just the Huns and Visigoths to do. Oh well!!!
Dave.
Welcome
Welcome to my wargaming blog,
I'm Dave and live in Morpeth, Northumberland in the UK.
This may or may not be a regular thing, we'll just have to see how it goes.
I am a painter/collector of figures first and a wargamer second. My thrill in this great hobby of ours is to place that final well researched & painted unit into the cabinet. The actual gaming with the figures is an important but secondary experience, we all like to win, but it isn't the be all and end all of it, being with good friends and having fun is.
Hope you will enjoy reading this blog as much as I will writing in it.
Just to remind the visitor to scroll down the various pages and click on 'older posts' to see more.

ReplyDeleteGreat re-basing, they look superb!
ReplyDeleteMerce Phil.
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of single base figures but visually they look much more dynamic on multiple figures to a base. A superb job done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat,I still have some single based figures for skirmish games but not too many. Nice blog by the way.
ReplyDeleteDave.
Oh impetus basing looks attractive. And you see people moving them with one pick up. Tempting!
ReplyDeleteHi Dave, beautiful figures matey! Which manufacturer are the Roman infantry?
