Well, it's a start, re-basing again!

It did need to be done, these lads are about 15 years old now and were originally based for Warhammer which as a skirmish/small scale action set of rules were fine in their original guise but like allot of rule writers they got greedy and had to write supplement after supplement, and of course we bought them. Truthfully you can't blame folk for making money but the original basic set seemed ok to me, later on you seemed to need to refer to the books to find out every weapon each different type of warrior may have had at hand, ridiculous.
So as I can't be arsed to move individual (or even small groups of figures) around I figured one base, one unit would do for Dave. Impetus size bases cut for me by Mick I made a start:

As you can see these are the cavalry, I should get going with the infantry soon, then just the Huns and Visigoths to do. Oh well!!!

Getting there

The last couple of weeks have seen me fixing various bits of IKEA furniture together, some for my good lady and some for myself, though I have managed to fit in the odd game with Neal and a visit to the club so not too bad.

I finally started painting/re-basing my 28mm late Roman/Goth/Hunnic army but more of that in a later post.
The main achievement is to finally get the war game table constructed in the painting/gaming room.

Three pieces of IKEA box storage units were put together as a base, they also serve as storage compartments for terrain.

Part of the originaltable tennis table cut to fit.

Second section fitted, I didn't cut the two sections to the same size as I figured it would give me the option of a different size game depending on what I want.

Finally with my original green hex matting rolled out on top.

Might get a game in soon!

Thank **** that's done!

Well I'm 54 and I don't want to be doing that again. I mean, never say never, but I'm pretty sure they will have to be carrying me out of this house in a box!
As jolly readers of these musings may well guess my good lady, youngest (well not quite so young maybe) son myself and two pooches have finally moved residences. I love it, the wife loves it, my lad loves it but one of the two dogs howled at the front door to go 'home' for four bloody days.
No matter, I have a den, a man cave, to be precise aWargames Room! Top floor all to myself, bloody marvellous, no more freezing my bits off in a Northumbrian garage, which even in July can be pretty chilly I'm telling you dear reader.
The figure storage cabinets were brought from our last place and half of IKEA transported/constructed in order to accommodate books and a gaming table. Not quite there with that bit yet but shouldn't be too long now.
I will shove some more pickies on here as progress is made but here's a start:

Moving house.

Moving about three miles to a slightly smaller house but which will have an upperfloor room dedicated purely to wargaming. Can't wait to be in but the move, packing etc is doing my nappa in! You don't half collect some stack of shite over the years so trips to the tip are a regular occorance.
Never mind I did get some painting in, 10mm Russian Naps for Blucher, so when I get a minuite I'll get pics on here as I'm pretty pleased with the result.
So that's the reason for nothing much appearing on the blog. When my head stops spinning like that lass off the Exorsist I will be ok. I'm sure things will eventually get back to normal.

II Bavarian Army Corps 1870.

Another piece of work finally compleated. This time it's the II Bavarian Corps for my Franco Prussian War forces.
This corps was made up of two divisions, the 3rd and 4th, each with their own supporting artillery batteries and Jager battalions and I also managed to get the corps reserve cavalry and artillary done (though not the limbers).
